things you didnt even know you needed

Quick post to say thanks to the lovely Sanna (the cute girl on the right) @ The Vagabond Set for letting us borrow/use one of her lovely images - this one is from the photo set listed on her post ‘Dont look now mum‘. For the eagle eyed amongst you the lyrics are pinched from Freak Scene by Dinosaur JR. One of the greatest songs ever written in my humble opinion.
I have no idea who these folks are but they make some kick ass websites. Lovely to look at anyway. They’re called Gelo Factory and they make the kind of websites that are a joy to wander through.
Joe’s Jeans sell clothes would you believe but they have some of the cutest models I’ve seen on a fashion site for a while. When was the last time you saw a girl hitching up her skirt on the homepage of a fashion site? On that point when was the first time? Joe’s Jeans do - and she’s hot.
This weekend was a nice relaxing one. Party on Friday night and then a stroll around Edinburgh on Saturday. All in all very nice and relaxing. Sunday was spent getting in touch with folks about general stuff (like Stereolab tickets) and other such nonsense.
Anyway its Moday, its raining (again) and looks like being a thoroughly miserable day with little to brighten the outlook. So I thought I’d put up some pics of cute girls to help everyone get through the day.
Hope its brightened up your day.
For a while I’ve really enjoyed the music of Daniel Johnston. It kinda started at a BMX Bandits gig where they were playing one of his songs “Do you really love me” - its in the video below (not the gig I was at unfrotunately). Last night ‘More Four’ - a channel four offshoot showed the movie of his life “The Devil and Daniel Johnston”.

This is fantastic. You put in your date of birth and it tells you who died on the day you were born. Genius. Pure genius.

Strangely it is found within the page of a dating site - go figure.

I never really liked the concept of the Yo MTV range of Puma Trainers. I dont listen to enough rap and I always find that any rap fashion I try on makes me look silly - really silly. Someone who’s far too old and is trying to be ‘down with the kids’. Anyway this weekend I found a pair of DJ Cash Money Pumas from the Yo MTV range. And they’re great. (more…)
Over the past week I’ve been getting my Summer holiday wardrobe into order. Jeans, shorts, shoes and t shirts. Here are the t shirts that I think no self respecting independent fashionista or fan of fashion should be without this summer.

In the same way that I evolved from Takashi Murakami prints into those by Chiho Aoshima my tastes in trainers is developing. I still have my mad cultural fascination with everything from Japan but my tastes are altering over time. Gone is my fascination with the neon-day-glo styles and increasingly I’m being interested by the more subtle expressions of culture, architecture and design I’m finding. My recent new desire is for the trainers designed by Jhung Yuro.

Was just doign some wandering when I randomly wandered into Kill Shop Kill - what a name. Anyway it would appear that there has been a level of cultural exchange between th US and the UK in fashion design. There were a number of t-shirts I found on the site that reminded me hugely of the Henry Holland gear that seems to be all the rage. As such I decided to go looking for some cool t’s for the Summer, nb. I know most people will have done their Summer shopping by now but in Scotland Summer has yet to start. (more…)
