Ok if you dont know about the headline you’ve never heard of the Australian indie supergroup Godstar - who I must admit are in my top four bands of all time - with the lyric being shamelessly stolen from their “Glasgow EP” . I no longer work in Glasgow and instead now turn right at the bottom of the road rather than left and work through in Edinburgh. So no longer shall I be seeing any Glasgow girls on Glasgow double decker busses. and judging by my drunken antics on Friday nights I’m not sure that I’ll be allowed with a ten mile radius of Scotlands other capital for quite some time.

I never really liked the concept of the Yo MTV range of Puma Trainers. I dont listen to enough rap and I always find that any rap fashion I try on makes me look silly - really silly. Someone who’s far too old and is trying to be ‘down with the kids’. Anyway this weekend I found a pair of DJ Cash Money Pumas from the Yo MTV range. And they’re great. (more…)

Just quick post about the service available from Nike iD. Text a pic from your mobile phone, assuming you’re in the UK here, to 88247 - with the message ‘Dunk’. Nike will take the image and use two of the colours in it to build you a pair of trainers. You’ll then be emailed with info on how you can purchase your bespoke Nike iD. Will post my trainers from the gig I was at last week when I get home and get the pic off my phone.

In the same way that I evolved from Takashi Murakami prints into those by Chiho Aoshima my tastes in trainers is developing. I still have my mad cultural fascination with everything from Japan but my tastes are altering over time. Gone is my fascination with the neon-day-glo styles and increasingly I’m being interested by the more subtle expressions of culture, architecture and design I’m finding. My recent new desire is for the trainers designed by Jhung Yuro.

One of the most fantastic things in the entire universe is trainers (if you’re living outside the UK you may call them ’sneakers’). Trainers - along with Marlboro and rum - help to block the entire world out. My personal predeliction is for Puma trainers. Retro styling, the calm simplicity of them, elegant lines and the variation on the design is almost endless.
Today I discovered my new lover - Reebok Reverse Jam Trainers. These are even more beautiful than my black/orange Pele’s, my multi-coloured Clydes or even my most beloved Adidas Adicolor Y2. If anyone knows where I can these in the UK I will worship you forever.
